Torso, molded from wax   Legs and hat molded from wax.

The liquid hot wax is poured and painted into the mold, about a quarter of an inch thick, and allowed to cool. When each section is reassembled, the body being made in two halves. The wax is taken from the molds and finished by the Sculptor ready for encasing in plaster grog, then the wax is melted out, hence the name the lost wax process.
